Hanbury CE First School’s Headteacher, Aaron McDonagh has responded to the release of its latest OFSTED report, which confirmed its grading of “good” remains unchanged.

“I am proud that it recognises the hard work and dedication from all our staff to ensure that the children flourish academically and personally,” he said.

“There have been significant changes to teaching and learning approaches and the curriculum we deliver since I joined the school in September 2021, which has been shaped by staff in our ongoing development.”

Whilst Mr McDonagh is incredibly proud that visitors to the school see the positive outcomes of the effort from teachers and support staff, he is especially pleased that the children receive recognition too:

“The report rightly highlights our wonderful children,” he commented.  “The inspector commented that they behave well not because of reward or incentive but because it is intrinsic, and they know that it is right to behave in that way towards others and their learning.

“We are pleased that our single development point matches our current priorities in school. After recent changes to some of our foundation curriculum subjects progression from Reception until the end of Year 4, the inspectors agreed with plans already in place to monitor the impact of these changes on children’s learning over time.”
